Find and Download Apps

Your first stop for downloads should be the Self Service app. Here you’ll find apps provided by the university for your use as a student. From paid apps like Notability to free but super useful apps like Duo, this selection will be updated and expanded throughout your time at Ohio State.

For any app not provided to you through the Self Service app, you can use the App Store. This is Apple’s official market for games and applications and is your best resource for finding and downloading useful apps. To get to the App Store, look for a blue icon on your iPad’s the home screen—it’s the one whose logo looks like a capital 'A' made out of popsicle sticks.

Three important things to keep in mind:

  1. If you need to purchase apps, know that you’ll be doing so with your own money. The good news, though, is that there are plenty of paid apps that are both useful and cheap.
  2. Make sure you get familiar with your Apple ID login because you’ll be asked to enter your Apple ID password whenever you download a new app.
  3. You are not permitted to download alternate app stores. Our mobile device management system will notify us if an additional app store is downloaded and your device will be disabled.
