2020 iPad Distribution Overview

Student setting up iPad kit

This year, Digital Flagship technology kit distributions will look a little different to allow us to provide your iPad Air, Apple Pencil, Smart Keyboard and protective case in a way that’s safe and healthy for you and our staff.

This page includes information for a variety of groups, and we will continue to update and add information as details come available. If you are an undergraduate student eligible for a technology kit, you'll be receiving communications directly from us with more information about how you’ll receive your iPad and any steps you need to take.

All distribution details are subject to change in alignment with university reopening policies.

Columbus Campus Students

If you’ll be attending Ohio State on the Columbus campus, you will select a time to pick up your technology from St. John Arena.

Here’s how the process works:

  • Complete your to-do’s. If you haven’t already, sign your Student Technology Agreement. You must also update your mailing address, which can be done in BuckeyeLink or through the Ohio State app "about you" tab. This is required in the event that we need to ship your device. You will receive additional communication if we need to ship your tech. Complete this form to receive an Ohio State Nike T-shirt from the Office of the President as part of your welcome kit.
  • Sign up for a pickup time. Due to initial issues with the online booking system, you will receive an email from Digital Flagship with updated information on scheduling your iPad pickup before Monday, August 10. You will then be able to select a date and time to get your iPad from St. John Arena. Appointments begin on August 12. Once you book your pickup time, we’ll send you more details and contact you if you haven’t completed the required to-do items.
  • Watch your email. We’ll send you updates and detailed instructions as your pickup appointment nears.
  • Pick up your iPad. You’ll be required to wear a mask and bring a valid photo ID such as your BuckID, driver’s license or passport. We’ll have plenty of signage and helpers to ensure you know where you’re going and maintain physical distance from others.
  • Set it up at home. Though you’ll be setting up your iPad at your residence, you won’t be on your own. Support is just a click, chat or call away

Regional Campus and Online Students

If you are attending one of Ohio State’s regional campuses or will be taking all of your courses online this fall, your technology kit will be mailed directly to you. If you are living in a residence hall on Columbus campus and taking only online classes this fall, you will schedule a time to pick up your technology from St. John Arena.

To receive your kit prior to the start of classes you must:

  • Update your mailing address. This can be done in the Ohio State app under the “About You” tab or by visiting BuckeyeLink. We cannot ship your device unless you’ve verified your mailing address. Reminder: this address cannot be a PO Box or a residence hall. If you will be living in a regional campus residence hall, your iPad will arrive prior to move-in at the mailing address you specify.
  • Sign your Student Technology Agreement.
  • Be enrolled in courses for the autumn 2020 semester.

We will send you an email with tracking information once your iPad has shipped, and though you’ll be setting up your iPad at your residence, you won’t be on your own. Support is just a click, chat or call away!

Eligible Transfer Students

You will follow the in-person pickup process listed above for Columbus campus students unless you are taking all of your courses online. If you are taking all online courses your device will be shipped to you following the process listed above for regional campus students.
