Next Steps for Technology Kits

All students who received a Digital Flagship technology kit will experience some changes to software access on their iPad after May 11, 2022. If you have downloaded Explain Everything Basics or Notability to your Digital Flagship iPad, these instructions will give you next steps so you don't lose projects or files. 

Back Up Your Data

It's a good idea to back up all data on your iPad regularly, but it's especially important to back up files from the two apps below if you want to keep those files after May 11, 2022.

Notability

You will need to back up any notes from Notability that you would like to keep access to. Learn how to back up notes from Notability.

If you downloaded Notability from the Self Service App on your iPad on or before August 26, 2021, you will be able to continue using Notability as before. If needed, you can can redownload Notability from the App Store after May 11, 2022, if you are using the same Apple ID you first downloaded Notability with.  

If you downloaded Notability from the Self Service App on your iPad after August 26, 2021, you are unable keep the same version of Notability on your iPad after May 11, 2022. If you want to continue to use Notability on your iPad, you will need to download Notability from the App Store. You will have a limited version of the app you can use for free or you can purchase Notability’s annual subscription for full use. 

As an alternative to Notability, OneNote is provided with the Microsoft 365 access that all students receive. 

Explain Everything Basics

This app will no longer be available after May 11, 2022. You will need to back up any projects you want to save. There are two options for exporting files:

  1. If you want to export an individual project file, which allows you to edit project files at another time: 

    • Explain Everything Basics > Load the project you want to export > Export as (near the top right of screen) > project > Export > Choose where you want to send your project using the iPadOS share sheet. You will have to sign in and give permission to any cloud storage. 

  1. If you want to export an individual video file: 

    • Explain Everything Basics > Load the project you want to export > Export as (near the top right of screen) > Video > Choose where you want to send your project using the iPadOS share sheet. You will have to sign in and give permission to any cloud storage.
